Lori Lightfoot, the mayor of Chicago, dubbed Texas Gov. Greg Abbott a "racist" when he declared he would invite illegal immigrants into the city.
Despite constantly touting that Chicago is a "sanctuary city" since 60 individuals entered on Wednesday, August 30, Lightfoot, a Democrat, slammed the GOP governor.
Before Chicago was named as a destination, Abbott's busing policy had already cost the state of Texas more than $12 million.
According to Lightfoot's administration, the city collaborated with departments, organizations, and community partners to offer crucial assistance to migrants travelling from Texas to Illinois.
Johnson slammed former President Donald Trump's immigration policies as discriminatory and racist, claiming that they aided schemes like Abbott's to transport people around the nation.
"President Biden's inactivity at our southern border continues to endanger the lives of Texans — and Americans — and is overwhelming our communities," Abbott said Wednesday, confirming Chicago as the organization's latest sanctuary-city target.
The commander of the US Border Patrol blamed Biden's "no repercussions" immigration policy for the increase of illegal immigrants coming into the US in a July deposition released by Fox News this week.
