During a 15-minute hearing, U.S. Magistrate Judge Rebecca Schwartz entered a not guilty plea for Golubski on all six accusations, despite his request to remain silent. She scheduled a hearing for 3 p.m. Monday to determine whether he should be held in jail until his trial. A pretrial hearing was set on October 12.
Golubski's court-appointed attorney, Tom Lemon of Topeka, indicated that he will ask that Golubski be released before trial because he undergoes daily treatments for serious health issues, including dialysis three or four days a week for failing kidneys.
