Hilaree Nelson Missing on Mount Manaslu

After falling near Mount Manaslu's summit in Nepal on Tuesday, Hilaree Nelson, a well-known American ski mountaineer, is still missing.

On Monday, while skiing with her partner Jim Morrison, Nelson, a 49-year-old mother of two, fell into a crevasse.

According to Bigyan Koirala, a tourist department official, two search and rescue helicopters were dispatched to the region.

The search was challenging on Monday because of the bad weather.

Nelson was the first woman to summit Everest and Lhotse, both of which are 8,000 metres, in a single 24-hour period.

Nelson, 49, is referred to as "the most prolific ski mountaineer of her generation" due to her 20-year career.
