On Thursday (Sep 29), US Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to the DMZ that separates North and South Korea.
During a meeting with Harris in Tokyo on Tuesday, South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo confirmed the visit.
In order to attend the state funeral of assassinated former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Harris is now in Tokyo.
The action is probably going to provoke a hostile response from North Korea.
Harris would visit the DMZ, interact with military personnel, hear an operational briefing from US commanders, and tour the area.
Harris plans to "reflect on the shared sacrifice" made by US and Korean soldiers who died in the Korean War.
Harris met Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Monday after arriving in Japan.
