Oklahoma Anti-trans Bathroom Law Challenged By Federal Lawsuit  

A federal law suit was filed by civil rights group on behalf of three transgender schoolchildren.

It argued the state's new law that children should use the bathroom of the sex listed on their birth certificate. 

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court in Oklahoma City on Tuesday.

State Department of Education and its board members, Superintendent Joy Hofmeister, Attorney General John O’Connor and three school districts are listed as defendants.

12 states have passed laws targeting the involvement of transgender community in various things.

The law was signed by Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt after it was passed through GOP-controlled Legislature
