ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST AUTHOR LOUISE FLETCHER PASSES AWAY 88-YEAR-OLD OSCAR WINNER

The legendary Nurse Ratched from "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," played by Oscar-winning actress Louise Fletcher, has passed away at age 88.

In the company of people she loved, she passed away quietly in her sleep at her farmhouse home in Montdurausse, France.

Fletcher's portrayal of the evil nurse, who duels with Jack Nicholson's R.P. McMurphy, was just her fourth in a movie after a television career.

The actress was born in 1934 in Birmingham, Alabama, before "Cuckoo's Nest."

Before her Oscar-winning success, she had a lackluster filmography and was frequently cast as the bad guy due to the iconic Nurse Ratched.
